Review of Three Restaurants in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Phillips Avenue Diner is located in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  What makes this place so unique is it got its beginnings on Louise Avenue in a silver Airstream trailer.  After several attempts to open the trailer as a restaurant but just could not get the business they needed to survive.

They decided to move the building downtown and call it Phillips Avenue Diner.  They were an instant success.  With yummy choices like Fried Pickles and Diner Chili with lots of beans and beef, they have people from all over seek them out.

Over seventeen hundred people have raved about them on the internet.  They even score a four-point-four-star rating.

Located at 603 W. 33rd Street in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is Roll’n Pin Café & Grill.  It is owned by a husband and wife team, Randy and Dawn and their son Michael.  Randy got his start in the restaurant business when he was thirteen.  While in junior high he worked at a truck stop washing pots and pans.  He worked his way to manager quickly and soon one of the other managers asked him to come and work in his new restaurant.  However, Randy wanted to be an owner, so the guy agreed.  Randy later bought the guy out and he ran it his self.

Randy’s wife, Dawn, got a job at the Roll’n Pin Café & Grill and Randy was hooked day one.  Dawn wanted to be part of the business right away and took on as many jobs as Randy would let her.  She has been a server then became the bookkeeper then worked her way to manager.

Michael grew up in the family business.  They started him on dishwashing as soon as he could reach the sink standing on a bucket.  As he got older, they taught him how to count cash back to customers before promoting him to server.  Today, he is pretty much the boss of Randy and Dawn overseeing the day to day functions of the business.

Ode to Food and Drinks is conveniently located at 300 Cherapa Place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Chef Bob Allen graduated from the California Culinary Academy then went on to work at several top-tier restaurants for twenty plus years.

Their General Manager, Michael Flannery started working in the restaurant industry in high school.  He has worked in every faucet of the restaurant business and brings amazing knowledge to Ode to Food and Drinks.

Catering and Events Manager is Theresa Flannery Kramer who grew up in Sioux Falls.  When she was a little girl she loved to pay “restaurant” with family and friends.  She has developed a knack for amazing place settings and food displays.  She started working at Ode to Food and Drinks in 2009.

This team of rock-solid people has garnered them over five hundred positive posts online with a four-point-six-star rating.  Next time you a caterer be sure to give them a call.
